History
The Lions Community Center was erected by the Lions in 1977 and donated to the New Lenox Community Park District with a dedication ceremony of the completed building on November 4, 1979. Building The Lions Community Center was spearheaded by Building Chairman Lion John Mann and led by Director Bill McCollum. The Lions Club not only incurred approximately $225,000 for their portion of the construction, but also involved their members and local businesses and tradesmen to provide labor, donated equipment, and materials. At a time, which was the formative years of the Park District, we lacked adequate funds to develop or construct a facility for the community, and this truly became a community project lead by the Lions Club.

In recognition of the donation, the Park District allowed a 45 year (based on useful life) “right to use” without cost to the Lions to use the building for Lions Club functions. The Bicentennial Room was designated as a Clubhouse for the Lions in and where the Lions currently meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
