The Park District’s ACES program is designed to provide a safe and structured before and after school program held at Spencer Campus, Nelson Campus, Tyler/Bentley and Haines/Oakview schools. The program sees almost 500 students per school year and is for Kindergarten through Grade 6 students. The program includes time for homework, social experiences, outdoor/physical activity, crafts, games, interactive fitness video games and more.
The ACES program begins at 6:30am until school starts and extends the school day to 6:30pm to accommodate busy schedules.
“The ACES program is a great opportunity for working parents to keep their children active before and after school,” Recreation Supervisor Bethany Lerch said. “We are grateful to be a recipient of this grant from IAPD to continue to allow our ACES program promote active, and healthy lifestyles to our participants.”
This marks the tenth consecutive year that the Park District received the PowerPlay! Beyond School Grant. This year, the awarded grant money will go toward the purchase of new recreation equipment, fitness games and engaging social games for youth.
