Water Chase Park Grand Opening

Water Chase Park
Celebrate with us at the Grand Opening of Water Chase Park! Join the New Lenox Community Park District as we unveil this exciting new park, featuring a pavilion, creative play area, wiffle ball field, pickleball courts, and walking/running paths. Lunch will be provided, so come out and be a part of this special day! Be one of the first 100 participants to receive a giveaway. 

Kid’s Fishing Derby

Ages 2-17
Hibernia Park
Join us for our annual Fishing Derby! Prizes are awarded in each age group for the most fish caught and longest fish caught. Check-in begins at 8:30am. Fishing Derby begins promptly at 9:30am. It’s sure to be a fun day of fishing and friendly competition! Bait will be available for purchase at the boathouse. You must pre-register for this free event. Registration deadline is Thursday, June 5. 

Splash Bash!

Ages 3-9
Walker Country Estates Park Splash Pad
Join us for some lunchtime fun with Disney themed days including music and outdoor games. Participants will have the choice of a hot dog or a soft pretzel lunch and popsicle along with receiving a wristband hat is valid for the rest of the day at the splash pad. An adult must stay for this program. Pre-registration is required. Free splash pad for the day. 

The Great Ball Pursuit! 

All Ages
New Lenox Community Parks
To celebrate the 7th annual Unplug Illinois Day, join in the hunt for the Great Ball Pursuit! We encourage participants to “unplug” from their electronic devices and plug into play, creativity and adventure at our parks with family and friends. 300 numbered balls will be scattered amongst six New Lenox community parks over three days. Locations will be announced daily on our social media at the corresponding times listed below. Numbers will be announced on Monday, July 14 on social media and winners will receive a prize from local businesses! 

Rules:

• Only one ball per person. Please think of others when collecting balls and do not hoard balls. Let’s make this fun for as many people as possible! We appreciate your cooperation.
• When a ball is found, a photo of the ball with a landmark (a playground, pavilion, park sign, etc.) indicating the respective park should be taken. Don’t forget to tag @NewLenoxCommunityParkDistrict on social media to promote the pursuit!
• When the winning numbers are announced though social media on Monday, July 14, send your photo verification to [email protected] to claim your prize.

Grandparent & Me Fishing Day 

Ages 3 & Older
Hibernia Park
Spend the day with your grandchild reeling in the “big one.” Relax a little, fish a lot and enjoy the day.  Bait will be for sale on-site. Fee includes hot dog, chips, and a drink. Registration deadline is Monday, July 14. 

Tween Sunset Summer Games

Ages 8-12
Haines Wayside Park
Calling all tweens! Bring your friendly, competitive spirit and enjoy the evening playing classic summer games of volleyball, gaga ball and more. We will have music playing and pizza dinner provided. You must pre-register for this event. Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 16. 

Park Party

All Ages
Hibernia Park
Join us and Lincoln-Way Special Recreation Association for an evening of fun at Hibernia Park before going back to school! Enjoy amenities such as boating, sand volleyball, fishing, splash pad and putting green. Or simply enjoy the accessible creative play areas for children of all ages. There will be music, games, treats & beverages! No registration required. 

Family Fun Nerf Super-Soaker Battle

Ages 5 & Older
Walker Country Estates Park
Looking for a way to beat the summer heat? Time to find your Nerf super-soaker while we provide the “battlefield.” There will be various battle types including parents vs. kids, along with an inflatable water slide! Lunch with beverages will be provided. An adult is required to stay for this event, and everyone will need to provide their own Nerf super-soaker to go into battle with! Registration deadline is Monday, July 21.

Family Fun Color Run & Cookout

Ages 5 & Older
Village Commons
Before school is back in session, let’s enjoy what’s left of summer with a burst of color at our Family Fun Color Run & Cookout! This paved course will have you jogging through clouds of vibrant color powder, so start in white – but we can’t guarantee you’ll finish that way! Participants will have the option to complete a 1 mile, 2 mile or full 5K starting and concluding in the New Lenox Commons. Upon completion, have a delicious hot dog, chips, and a beverage while enjoying music and games on the Commons grassy knoll with family and friends. This is NOT a timed race and participants can either walk or run.

• Pre-register by July 21 for a t-shirt.
• Registration Deadline is Monday, August 4 at 5:00pm.
• Proceeds support our scholarship fund.
• Youth 12 and under must have an adult present.
• Non-toxic color powder is used; consider wearing eye protection.

Ice Cream Social

Join us for an ice cream social in the park! We will have a variety of toppings (while supplies last) along with music and games. Bring your family for a delicious, good time! Please be aware we cannot guarantee accommodations for food allergies.
